Parramatta

Parramatta
Client: Girvan
Matt Brindley – Design Architect for the Rice Daubney Group.

This boutique office building is located in Wentworth St Parramatta. It has 7 storeys with a 1300sqm gross floor plate. Each floor has on floor plant at the rear of the core against the recessed external façade.

The curved front façade is a response to the narrow street. The sides of the tower element are set back which allows terraces at the podium level. The mid section curves out to touch the street boundary. The design provides a signature presence in the street in contrast to the more rectilinear buildings surrounding it.

The glass skin is the “modern” containment of the office space emerging from the “traditional” brick enclosure, which anchors the building to the ground. Colour, reflection and texture were all juxtaposed in the choice of materials. The use of brick was recognition of the history of Parramatta and the heritage buildings in the immediate area. The green glass complemented the brick.

The ground floor lobby is set back from the street boundary to provide a colonnaded protected walkway for pedestrians.
