Matt Brindley – Project Director for Kann Finch Dubai
Marsa Plaza is located in the Dubai Festival City development, close to Dubai International Airport. It building footprint is 180m long and consists of 530 apartments over 32 storeys.
The Intercontinental Hotel Group manages the 200 short stay apartments in the middle section, while the developer retains the ends as traditional leased apartments. Public spaces at ground include restaurant, business centre, gym and café. Back of house areas are located to the rear. A 20m saltwater pool is located at each end in the landscaped gardens with another 20m pool located at the top of the middle section of the building overlooking the desert and airport, adjacent to a gym overlooking Dubai Creek.
Matt Brindley, working for Kann Finch Dubai, completely redesigned the building based only on a perspective sketch by another architect. By adding additional cores to allow through ventilation apartments, Matt increased the number of apartments looking over Dubai Creek from 40% to 70%. The redesign also delivered an additional 30 apartments. Returning to Australia, Matt led the design development team to deliver the project.
