Matt Brindley – Lead Architect for Kann Finch Group
East Quarter Development is a multi use development located at Forest Road Hurstville. It has 729 apartments, retail ground levels and underground parking. The 7 towers range in size from 5 to 16 storeys. Kann Finch Group won a major competition to design and deliver the project.
Matt Brindley acted as Lead Architect on the project, coordinating the design work of two smaller firms on 2 buildings as well as the oversight or design of the planning of all apartments in the development.
Commercial Option
The first two residential buildings were completed in 2008. At this time the development was sold to a new owner, who engaged Kann Finch Group to prepare designs for a commercial option for one of the remaining buildings to attract a major tenant. The design utilized the bulk of an approved residential building to form the basis for a new commercial tower.
Matt redesigned the tower with a side core and glazing on the other sides. The northern façade has large overhanging slab edges while the eastern window wall had mesh louvres angled to cut out sun but still allow views.
