Dune has been designed as a bit of fun and to provide privacy for narrow sites. It can be located on flat sites so that the garage is included beneath the upper floor bedrooms or on a sloping site where a carport could be remote due to the topography of the site.
Dune’s dynamic form with jutting end blade walls supporting the larger footprint at the upper level features hinged ‘gills’ on the side walls which can be opened to take advantage of cross breezes and to broaden the view arc from the decks.
If Dune is built as a single prefabricated house it could be finished to lockup in 30 days and be carried from factory to site on only four truckloads. The building is made of lightweight framing and lined with either painted insulatd fibrous cement or timber cladding. All internal areas are prefinished and serviced only requiring connection of the electrical switchboard to the mains and plumbing connections beneath the house.
