Ensuite Bathroom Studio Living/Dining/Kitchen Entertaining GarageSwell Architects create new designs to answer client and difficult site problems on a regular basis. Cityscape is a study for homes on steep sites with both street front cross fall and within the site from street to rear. These solutions can sit on a site with a 16m drop from front to rear and a 1.8m cross fall along the street.
The brief called for a typical Sydney family home ie 3 bedrooms, plus study, ensuite and main bathroom plus living areas with open plan kitchen, dining and double garage.
The first solution has the garage at the upper level with an internal stair connecting the lower level with the bedrooms opening out to a lower couryard to the north. Both levels open to full length decks facing a park view to the south.
The second solution includes a pool at the rear at a lower level. The garage is at the lower level from the street. A large terrace with pergola roof runs along the western side to provide a large outdoor entertaining area and gives better solar access to the rear yard. Obviously both house types would work best with the rear facing north
